SCENE 2 | The family continues searching for Chicken Jane as Lionel is now acting like a chicken. Just then, Cleo smells her out in Colonial America, and so the family flips through the pages trying to find her. Meanwhile, Chicken Jane has joined the Go Fish game when she sees two signal lights in the bell tower, and alerts Paul Revere by writing "Bell tower". Paul leaves to alert everyone that the British are coming, but not before saying Scot and Dot's catchphrase at the end of every book- "Thank you, Chicken Jane!" Unfortunately, Jane is hit by the horse as it leaves and is sent flying.
SCENE 2
(Cont'd) |
All of a sudden, Lionel spots Jane on one of the pages just as she flies right out of the book and hits several objects again until she flies right into Sleeping Beauty. In the book, the prince doesn't know how to wake up Sleeping Beauty, so Chicken Jane writes "Kiss her". The prince does so, Sleeping Beauty wakes up ("About time, let's go!") and she and the prince leave on a horse as they say Scot and Dot's catchphrase again. Chicken Jane gets hit by the horse, sending her flying out again just as Theo opens up the book.
SCENE 2 (cont'd) | Chicken Jane bounces around the library yet again, but this time, however, Click has tracked Chicken Jane's movements to see where she has landed. As it turns out, she flew into the book "Cook a Lot Like Me" by Molly Stewpot. Everyone says "A chicken... in a cookbook?!", and Cleo gasps in horror.

SCENE 3 (Cont'd) | Meanwhile, the lions and the library's patrons have made a plan to get Chicken Jane back into her book. First, Lionel will bat the cookbook, sending Jane flying out of the book, and after a few more hits and moves, Jane will land back in her own book. Back in the cookbook, Chicken Jane writes the word "Jelly" to warn Molly that some jelly is flying (most likely due to her monkey assistant spilling it), to which she realizes this and gets out of the way and, just like in Chicken Jane's book, Chicken Jane is the one who gets hit by the jelly. Molly then parodies what Scot and Dot say again.
SCENE 3 (Cont'd) | Molly Stewpot then grabs Chicken Jane by the neck and is about to put her in the boiling pot, pointing out that she's illustrated, noting that no real animals were harmed. At that moment, Lionel bats the cookbook, which causes Molly to let go of her, allowing Chicken Jane to escape, while a monkey falls over, resulting in the jelly being spilled on Molly in defeat. After a few bounces and hits around the room, Leona successfully catches Jane and she lands back in the book! Then the family continues the story from where they left off...
Cartoon | Fun with Chicken Jane: Chicken Jane and the Pond (with highlights) (EKA: Episode 38: Bobby the Hopping Robot)
SCENE 3 (Cont'd) | Leona wonders what kind of adventures Chicken Jane had in the other books that she landed in. Lionel doesn't think she had any adventures at all, and Cleo tells him that he might never know,
Insert | Walter Pigeon is on top of Busterfield's head, until he opens his head and knocks him off- now he is not! The pigeons want to do this again and do not want to stop, as the second season of Between the Lions comes to an end. |

Notes and Trivia[]
- Since The Vowelles sung the short O sound in the previous season without Martha Reader, they didn't appear in this episode because the gray cursor hand takes the "op" ending to If You Can Read: op instead.
- This is the last episode to feature the short "O" sound.
- This is the last appearance of the word family "op".
- This is the last episode until Pigs, Pigs, Pigs! / The Three Little Pigs where Peter Linz performs Theo on a full-time basis. Tim Lagasse mostly takes over for Seasons 3 and 4.
- This is also the last time Kathryn Mullen performs Leona. Pam Arciero takes over starting in Hay Day until the end of the series.
- This is the only time a Fun with Chicken Jane book opened without the theme song, though this segment was previously featured with the theme song in Bobby the Hopping Robot.
- This is the third episode that the gray hand grabs the letters from a segment; the first was The Hopping Hen, and the second was Five, Six, and Thistle Sticks.
- Broadway actress Polly Adams guest stars as Molly Stewpot. She had previously appeared in But, Mama, But... as the narrator of "I Miss You, Stinky Face".
- This episode was last broadcasted on PBS in May 2009.
- This is the second time where Leona is shown wearing umpire gear; the first is Giants and Cubs.
