COLD OPEN | Announcer Bunny Program Preview: "Announcer Bunny here to show you what's coming up next on Between the Lions!"
A clip from The Monkey Pop-Up Theater: Sven Said, Ten Tents, Ted Sent Ten Cents is shown.
SCENE 1 | Leona is wearing a paper hat that is red on one side and green on the other, inspired by a book she saw. She tries to show Lionel, who is outside on the hammock, but Lionel doesn't care as he just wants to read yesterday's baseball scores. Annoyed, Leona sets the book in Lionel's lap and announces that she will just show everyone else in the library instead, thinking that they will actually appreciate it. Lionel decides to read the book- Red Hat, Green Hat, retold by Ed Ledbetter, in which two best friends, Kendi and Upendo, see a farmer walking between them with a hat that looks just like Leona's. However, the two only see one half of the hat, causing them to fight over what color the hat was and end their friendship.
SCENE 1 (cont'd) | Lionel wonders why Leona would want to make such a troublemaking hat like that. He thinks that she just didn't read it, until he realizes that she can't read! Lionel races back inside, worried.
SCENE 1 (cont'd) | As Leona plans to show the hat to everybody in the library, Lionel tries to warn her about the consequences in the book, but Leona thinks he's just being jealous. She then proceeds to show everyone there by walking between two groups of patrons (Including Walter Pigeon and a duck on one side, and Click, Clay and Tim Lagasse on the other). Like the story, the two groups start arguing over the color of Leona's hat, and chaos ensues.

Puppets | The Great Smartini: Ten Red-Vested Hens (with text) (EKA: Episode 06: The Hopping Hen)
SCENE 2 | Leona shows her hat to Theo and Cleo, who both like the hat as well, though Theo only sees the green side and Cleo only sees the red,
SCENE 2 (cont'd) | As the arguing continues, Lionel and Leona view the chaos from the other side of the library. The parents then come along and Theo tells them to quiet down. Theo explains that it's a shame that everybody is fighting over a hat. Cleo tries to resolve the issue and says that the hat was red, but Theo disagrees, leading to the fight starting back up, with them arguing as well! Leona asks Lionel what happened next in the book, but Lionel doesn't know because he hadn't read the whole story, so they rush off to finish it.
Insert | "And now, Busterfield is wed." Busterfield is confused, and asks who it is, and it turns out that it is a chicken. Annoyed, Busterfield rejects the marriage, sending the chicken into tears.

SCENE 3 | Lionel and Leona rush to the roof garden where they find the book, and continue reading from where Lionel left off. As Kendi and Upendo continue arguing, the same farmer walks between them in the other direction, showing them that the hat has two sides, and the two become best friends once again.
SCENE 3 (cont'd) | Leona now knows what she must do, and asks Lionel to come with her to the center of the library.
SCENE 3 (cont'd) | The arguing has become louder and more intense as Lionel and Leona arrive. Lionel tells her to do the thing quickly, comparing it to pulling off a band-aid. Leona walks in between the groups again, this time showing them both sides of the hat. Realizing their mistakes, everybody apologizes to each other. Lionel tells Leona that he hopes she has learned something very important today, and Leona assumes that is that she makes very nice hats, causing Lionel to laugh hysterically.
Insert | The chicken is still sobbing, and Busterfield tells her the marriage just wouldn't work and that she has to get over it. After the chicken leaves, the announcer claims that Busterfield is not wed, and Busterfield admits that it is lonely at the top.
