SCENE 1 Leona wants Lionel to play with her, but Lionel just wants to read, so instead, Leona asks him to read to her. Trying to drive Leona away, Lionel starts reading aloud a Cliff Hanger book, when Leona interrupts and tells him to read her something good, "Like this", she says as she pulls a random book off the shelf. So Lionel reads the book she picked- The Ram in the Pepper Patch by Chile Ramirez, in which a girl in Mexico labors hard to grow peppers in a pepper patch. Then, one day, she sees that a ram is eating the peppers! Several of her animals try to get rid of the ram, but to no success. Then a bee comes along, and stings the ram on the fanny, chasing him right out of the patch.

SCENE 1 (cont'd) After the story, the ram pops right out of the book! He asks the cubs he can stay in the library for a while until the pain in his fanny goes away. Leona, feeling bad for the ram, lets him stay, and the ram decides to walk off the pain with a little run. Lionel thinks that this doesn't look good, and Leona tells him that he worries too much. Suddenly, the ram butts into two of the patrons, causing them to fall down the stairs! Lionel remarks "That's gotta hurt", and Leona realizes that maybe it wasn't a good choice to let the ram stay in the library.

SCENE 3 Click is monitoring the library searching for the ram, right when he tries to sneak by. She manages to catch him using the Gray Hand (in a rare non-segment cameo), and Lionel tells Click to put him back in the book. But the ram objects as the bee will just sting him again, and Cleo says that they can't make him go back in if he doesn't want to. Theo tells Click to drop him, and once she does, runs off as the ram tries to butt her. With that, the ram decides to go, and Cleo (sarcastically) tells him to just go already if he doesn't want to be "the star of the story that millions of children from Mexico and all over the world have loved for generations". Then, a patron (Anthony Asbury) wants to check the book out, but Cleo tells him that all they have is No Ram in the Pepper Patch. The patron asks to look at it, and as it turns out, the book is boring.

SCENE 3 (cont'd) The patron rejects the book, claiming that the book is a ripoff, there's no story, and without the ram, the book stinks. Cleo tells the ram to think of all of his other fans, and so the Ram pictures all of his fans in Mexico (represented by stock footage from silent movies) freaking out about his absence from the story. The Ram then has a change of heart and decides to return to the story, realizing that he can't disappoint his public. Leona says that she told Lionel it would be easy, leaving Lionel confused.
