SCENE 2 Leona and Clay are still depressed because Lionel won't let them play pirate. Cleo comes along and Leona explains the situation, so she goes to talk to Lionel. Cleo interrupts Lionel's playing and asks him if what was happening was really true. Lionel says that they're girls, and there were no female pirates, so Cleo explains that he can pretend to be anything when he isn't that thing, so Leona and Clay can as well. So Lionel lets them play, with the exception that they at least have to play as boys.

SCENE 2

(cont'd)

Then, Theo brings down a book about Anne Bonney, who was a real-life female pirate; in which surprises Lionel that there are also girls that can be pirates too. Leona wants to be Anne Bonney when they play pirates, but suddenly Anne lifts herself out of the book and says that she can't, and if they're playing pirate, she should too, unless they only want pretend pirates. When Lionel says that anybody is allowed to play pirates, Anne takes over the idea and forces Theo, Cleo and a few monkeys passing by to play as well. She chuckles, saying it looks kind of like her old crew.
