Adventure 3787

Cliff Hanger and the Mammoth Whale is an installment in The Adventures of Cliff Hanger series by Livingston Dangerously. It's presented as the 3,787th adventure and teaches the long and short "a" sounds.

Synopsis[]

As always, Cliff Hanger is hanging from a cliff. And he can't hold on much longer. When he sees a mammoth whale (possibly a sperm whale) in the ocean below, Cliff reaches into his backpack and pulls his Survival Manual. The manual recommends jumping on the blast of water emanating from the whale's blowhole, which Cliff proceeds to do. When the whale ceases blasting water and continues swimming, it seems Cliff is on his way to freedom. (Cliff says, "I am free at last!".) However, a second blast sends Cliff flying above his branch as the whale submerges itself in the water. Cliff's quote this time is "Drat!". As Cliff begins to fall, he grabs onto his branch. This gets Cliff back to hanging from the root on the cliff. Once again, he's back where he started from. The male singer sings, "And that's why he's called 'Cliff Hanger'". Cliff is still left there (on his root) hanging. He is back to where he started from. And once again, he can't hold on much longer.

Tip from Cliff Hanger's Trusty Survival Manual[]

"If you catch sight of a whale and it blasts water from its blowhole, jump on the blast fast." (The Last Cliff Hanger)

Trivia[]

  • The mammoth whale is a toothed whale (given to the fact that it has one blowhole). So the mammoth whale in "Cliff Hanger and the Mammoth Whale" is a sperm whale. The sperm whale (in reality) is the largest toothed whale.
